The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) announced that deployment of both newly hired and returning OFWs to Bahrain is now allowed. This is because the government of Bahrain lifted the state of national security in the Middle Eastern country.
The government agency decided to resume the processing of employment documents of Filipinos going to Bahrain after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reduce the security classification of the country from alert level 2 to alert level 1.
Carlos S. Cao Jr., POEA Administrator said that with the security classification back to alert level 1, the deployment ban to Bahrain was effectively lifted. The DFA raised the security classification of Bahrain to alert level 2 on March 2011.
