Pinoy IT and Service Workers needed in Korea

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said that South Korea prefers overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) not only in the factory but also in their Information Technology (IT) and service industries.

Deputy Administrator Carmelita Dimzon said they are negotiating with the government of South Korea for feasible jobs of OFWs in Incheon Metropolitan City since banks and hotels here needs English-speaking staffs.

“They are opening the Incheon Metropolitan City for Filipino workers,” said Dimzon.

Currently they cannot give the exact figures considered necessary in this job, but Dimzon said that they will urgently announce it as well as the requirements once the agreement has been finalized.

Meanwhile the 10,000 quota allotted by Korea in the deployment of OFWs through Employment Permit Systems EPS is still in effect.

Dimzon said that the suspension of deployment will be lifted once they have completed the signing with their counterparts.
